SEAToday.com, Jakarta - For those who want to go ‘mudik’ (return to your hometown or village) at the end of this year, there is good news, SEAtizens! The Transportation Ministry (Kemenhub), through the Directorate General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat), is holding a ‘mudik gratis’, for motorcycle users at the end of this year. The purpose of this initiative is to anticipate the increase in public travel during the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 (Nataru) holidays, which coincide with school holidays.

In addition, this initiative was also realized following the results of a survey by the Transportation Ministry's Transportation Policy Agency (Baketrans). This survey predicts that people who travel will reach 107.63 million, or 39.83 percent of the total national population. Of these, the majority of travelers are expected to use private vehicles, both cars and motorcycles.

Ditjen Hubdat will provide a quota of 90 intercity bus and tourism bus units with a total of 3,600 passengers. As for motorcycle vehicles, 120 units will be prepared with four trucks.
