Final Plenary Session of the People's Consultative Assembly 2019-2024 Approves Two Draft Decisions
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The plenary session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the end of the 2019-2024 term in Jakarta on Wednesday (9/25) approved two draft decisions, namely the MPR Draft Regulation on Rules of Procedure and the MPR Draft Decree on MPR Recommendations for the 2019-2024 period.
“Can the Draft MPR Rules of Procedure and the Draft MPR Decree on MPR Recommendations for the 2019-2024 period as decided in the Joint Meeting of the MPR on September 23, 2024 be approved?” said MPR Speaker Bambang Soesatyo alias Bamsoet who led the session.
The question was quickly answered in the affirmative by all session participants present.
The approval was taken after on the previous occasion all factions and Regional Representative Council (DPD) groups expressed their final views on the material of the two draft decisions.
“From the general views that have been submitted, all factions and groups of DPD have agreed on the material of the Draft MPR Rules of Procedure and the Draft MPR Decree on MPR Recommendations for the 2019-2024 period,” he said.
At the beginning, Chairman of the MPR Study Board Djarot Saiful Hidayat submitted a report on the discussion of the MPR Draft Regulation on Rules of Procedure.
He said that the drafting of the MPR Rules of Procedure was mandated by the MPR Leadership Meeting on February 27, 2023.
The discussion of the draft has gone through the drafting team, the plenary of the study body, until it was finally agreed at a joint meeting of MPR leaders on September 23, 2024 to be decided as MPR RI Rules at the MPR Plenary Session at the End of the 2019-2024 Period of Office today.
“The substance of the changes to the rules of order includes editorial changes, changes in formulation, as well as the formulation of new articles and paragraphs,” he said.
On Friday (20/9), the MPR's Acting Secretary-General Siti Fauziah said one of the MPR's recommendations for the 2019-2024 term of office to be followed up by the MPR in the next period was on the Principles of State Policy (PPHN), which had not yet been decided by the current MPR.
