Saifullah Yusuf Inaugurated as Social Affairs Minister

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Saifullah Yusuf was officially inaugurated as Minister of Social Affairs on Wednesday (9/11) at the State Palace, Jakarta. He replaced Tri Rismaharini, who had previously resigned to run for governor and deputy governor of East Java in the 2024 elections.

The inauguration of Syaifullah Yusuf was held at the State Palace Jakarta at around 09.00 WIB, in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 102B 2024 on the Appointment of Minister of Social Affairs of the 2019-2024 Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

“By the name of Allah, I swear that I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out all laws and regulations as straightforwardly as possible for the sake of my service to the nation and state,” Yusuf said when taking the oath guided by President Jokowi.

In addition, Syaifullah also promised to carry out the duties of office and uphold the ethics of office, work properly with a full sense of responsibility.

After reading the oath, Saifullah Yusuf signed the inauguration minutes, witnessed by President Joko Widodo. The ceremony was also attended by Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and other officials.

Saifullah Yusuf or known as Gus Ipul is a politician who currently serves as the Mayor of Pasuruan. He also serves as Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU).

Born in Pasuruan, East Java, August 28, 1964, Gus Ipul served as Minister of Development of Disadvantaged Regions (PDT) in the first term of the administration of the sixth President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and then served as Deputy Governor of East Java for the 2009-2019 period.

Gus Ipul is the nephew of the fourth President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur). He was a member of the House of Representatives from the PDI-P faction in 1999, before deciding to join the National Awakening Party (PKB) in 2001.
