SEAToday.com, Putrajaya-The former Malaysian finance minister’s wife, Toh Puan Naimah Khalid, is expected to be charged in court on January 23rd.

Previously, The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission or MACC, has carried out a series of investigations against the former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin since December 2023.

According to the charge sheet, Naimah had intentionally given wrong information about her assets in a written statement under oath. These unmentioned assets include two companies, Ilham towers, two Mercedes cars, and eight other properties.

For that reason, she will face imprisonment for up to five years and a fine not exceeding 100,000 ringgit Malaysia equivalent to 21,150 US dollars under section 36 (2) of The MACC 2009.

In response, Naimah has denied the allegation, stating that the charge is false and unjust, and that the authority is trying to make the family corrupt. Despite the evidence, the family has initiated legal action by submitting a judicial review application against both The MACC and the public prosecutor.

Naimah also stated her intention to fight the charges brought against her family. (ALWI/ALVIN)
