Jakarta Government Offers Free Museum Entry for Three Categories of Residents

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government is providing free museum entry for residents who fall into three specific categories.

These categories include persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and students who are recipients of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP).

The free entry policy aligns with Governor Regulation No. 8 of 2017 concerning Free Admission to Ragunan Zoo, the National Monument (Monas), and Museums on Weekdays for Certain Communities, which has been in effect since January 20, 2017.

“The reason behind this initiative is to support community activities and facilitate access to recreational services, particularly for specific groups, namely persons with disabilities, the elderly, and students receiving KJP," said Jakarta’s Head of Cultural Protection at the Department of Culture, Linda Enriany, on Wednesday (2/26), as quoted by Antara.

This free admission service is available from Tuesday to Friday (excluding national holidays and collective leave days) at museums managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government through the Department of Culture.

The museums included in this program are the Jakarta History Museum, Taman Prasasti Museum, MH Thamrin Museum, Joang 45 Museum, Museum of Fine Arts & Ceramics, Wayang Museum, and Textile Museum.

Other participating museums include the Maritime Museum, Betawi Museum, Rumah Si Pitung, Benyamin Suaeb Park, and Onrust Archaeological Museum.

"The goal of providing this free service is also to create safe, comfortable, and affordable recreational experiences in museums," Linda added.

Residents can present their ID card (KTP) or Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) to museum staff to enjoy free entry.
