Singapore Reportes Spike in COVID-19 Case, Health Minister Suggested People Keep Vaccinations Up To Date
SEAToday.com, Singapore-The government of Singapore recently reported a rise in COVID-19 infections with an estimated 32.035 people infected compared to 22.094 cases in the previous week. Other than that, according to the Ministry of Health, the average daily hospitalisations and ICU admissions have also increased though the numbers are not as high as during the pandemic.
Responding to the spike in COVID-19 infections, Minister Ong Ye Kung said that Singapore can withstand this situation since the country has gone through over three years of pandemic with all kinds of safe management measures.
Besides, noting that 60 percent of Singaporeans are up to date with their vaccinations, Minister Ong is optimistic that people have good immunity and have received minimum protection over the pandemic.
Moreover, with Dorscon green just released in early 2023, Minister Ong emphasized that going back to the pandemic situation is the last thing on everyone’s mind. Under the disease outbreak response system condition (Dorscon) rule green indicates that a disease is mild and poses minimal disturbance to daily life.
Therefore, he encouraged everyone to take their part by observing good hygiene/ avoiding contact with the elders, and continuing to upgrade taking vaccines, especially for seniors as a precautionary measure.
