SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed that the establishment of the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has been officially approved in the third revision of Law No. 19 of 2003 on State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).

According to Erick, Danantara will play a role in the operational management of BUMN while also optimizing dividends to help the government achieve its target of 8% economic growth.

"BPI Danantara will manage BUMN both operationally and by optimizing dividend management to assist the government in achieving the 8% economic growth target that has been set," Erick said during the Plenary Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Furthermore, Erick explained that the establishment of Danantara is part of the BUMN transformation aimed at strengthening synergy between the government, BUMN, and stakeholders to realize the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045.

Danantara will also function in consolidating BUMN management, including optimizing investments, forming operational holdings, restructuring, privatization, as well as the formation and dissolution of subsidiaries.

Additionally, the third revision of the BUMN Law emphasizes that the management of BUMN assets must be conducted in an accountable manner and in accordance with good corporate governance principles.

"The management of BUMN assets must be carried out with accountability and in compliance with applicable regulations," said Erick.

On the human resources (HR) aspect, Erick stressed that the revision of the law provides greater opportunities for persons with disabilities and women to hold strategic positions in BUMN, including directorial and board of commissioners roles.

"The BUMN HR provisions in this law also provide opportunities for persons with disabilities and women to occupy strategic positions, such as directors or commissioners," he explained.

The approval of the law revision also grants Erick the mandate to serve as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Danantara, responsible for ensuring that the new body operates optimally.

"BUMN transformation through the establishment of BPI Danantara is a strategic effort to support the joint vision of Indonesia Maju (Advanced Indonesia) towards Indonesia Emas (Golden Indonesia) 2045. The synergy between the government, BUMN, and all stakeholders will build a strong and sustainable economic foundation for future generations," Erick said.

In addition to Danantara, this law also affirms that BUMN's assets are state assets that are separated, making it more flexible to conduct corporate actions. With this change, it is hoped that BUMN's competitiveness will be further strengthened and will contribute to driving national economic growth in line with the government's targets.
