SEAToday.com, Jakarta - In celebration of the 2025 Isra Mikraj and Chinese New Year holiday, the Monument Management Unit (UPK) of the National Monument (Monas) has extended its operating hours until 10:00 PM WIB.

“Monas usually opens from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM WIB, but specifically until Wednesday (1/29), we will operate until 10:00 PM WIB,” said UPK Monas Head, Muhammad Isa Sanuri, in Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to Isa, Monas remains one of Jakarta’s most popular tourist destinations. On Monday (1/27), a total of 29,461 visitors were recorded at Monas from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM WIB. Among them, 11,669 were children, while 17,528 were adult visitors.

In addition to domestic tourists, Monas also attracts foreign visitors. A total of 264 international tourists were recorded, with the majority coming from China (130 visitors), followed by the United States (31), India (29), and Japan (16). The rest hailed from countries such as Germany, Brazil, Turkey, the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Italy, the United Kingdom, and Korea.

On Tuesday (1/28), between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM WIB, Monas had already welcomed 1,408 visitors, consisting of 390 children, 1,004 adults, and 14 international tourists from China, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Ireland.

Besides Monas, tourists vacationing in Jakarta have also visited other popular destinations, such as Ancol, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), the Thousand Islands, and Ragunan Zoo.

Ancol is one of the busiest tourist spots, with over 120,000 visitors recorded in the past three days. Beach areas such as Lagoon Beach, Carnival Beach, Festival Beach, Marina Beach, Ria Beach, and Bande Beach have become favorite spots for visitors. Additionally, various recreational facilities within the Ancol complex have been crowded with tourists enjoying the extended holiday.

Meanwhile, TMII has also experienced a surge in visitors. On Tuesday (January 28), around 10,000 people were recorded visiting the cultural park located in East Jakarta.

Novera Mayang Sari, TMII’s Corporate Secretary Manager, revealed that TMII visitors come not only from Jakarta but also from various other regions.

“During long holidays, we usually receive many visitors from outside the city. However, we do not have specific data as tickets are purchased online through our website,” explained Mayang.
