Dutch Government Immortalizes Retno Marsudi in Tulip Flower Name

Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp bestowed this recognition during a visit to Indonesia, symbolizing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations over the past 12.5 years.
“This certificate states that on September 16, 2024, the International Cultivar Registration Authority for tulips, Royal General Blubgrowers Association (KAVB) in Hillegom, the Netherlands has reserved Retno Marsudi's name for the fragrant tulips with white edges grown by Jan Ligthart, Den Helder, the Netherlands,” stated the certificate given by Veldkamp to Foreign Minister Retno during her working visit to The Hague, Monday (16/9/2024
Retno shared the moment on her Instagram account (@retnomarsudi) on Wednesday (9/18). The video showed Veldkamp presenting her with tulip seeds.
In addition to this floral gesture, Veldkamp also conferred upon Retno the "Badge of Honor for Merits" award. Retno said that she was honored to receive the Golden Order of Merit.
