Karimunjawa to Launch New Flight Routes from Yogyakarta and Semarang in April

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Karimunjawa will soon be more accessible with the launch of new flight routes from Yogyakarta and Semarang, set to begin in April 2025. The announcement was made via the official @kemenpar.ri Instagram account on Saturday (2/15).
The new routes will connect Adisutjipto Airport (Yogyakarta) and Ahmad Yani Airport (Semarang) to Karimunjawa, operated by an ATR aircraft with a capacity of 70 passengers.
A three-month trial period will be conducted, supported by the Central Java Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office (Disporapar).
Karimunjawa actually already has Dewadaru Airport, which was built in 1994. However, it could only accommodate small aircraft, and flights were rare. As a result, Dewadaru Airport eventually stopped serving commercial flights.
Now, starting in April 2025, tourists will have a new transportation option to reach Karimunjawa. With this plan, traveling to Karimunjawa is expected to become easier and faster for visitors.
