Komodo National Park to Undergo Temporary Closure Next Year for Area Restoration
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has confirmed the temporary closure of Komodo National Park in East Nusa Tenggara in the second quarter of 2025. This decision aims to address the increasing number of tourists, improve destination management, and ensure the sustainability of the national park.
"We have carefully considered this plan, taking into account the number of visitors, destination management, and the carrying capacity of the national park," said Nia Niscaya, Expert Main Advisor for Tourism and Creative Economy at Kemenparekraf, on Monday (7/22).
While acknowledging the challenges in educating the public about ecosystem restoration efforts, Nia emphasized the positive impact this initiative will have on the tourist destination.
"There are snorkeling, diving, tourist villages, and several islands that we need to prepare," she said.
