SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram's owner, Meta on Monday (11/6), banned several advertising sectors from using generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools. The banned sectors include elections, politics, social issues, housing, employment, and loans.

The policy update came after Meta developed a generative AI tool for advertisers to create backgrounds, ad text variations, and image adjustments.

Meta also urges political advertisers who upload campaign materials on Facebook and Instagram using generative AI to inform the public. This is necessary because there is a fear that it could spread hoax information.
