SEAToday.com, IKN - Indonesian Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi stated that Indonesia's New Capital City (IKN) will build a Chinese-made public transport, Automated-Rail Rapid Transit (ART).
In a social media post, Minister Budi mentioned that this project will be done together with the China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), which also previously helped work on Whoosh. Later, ART will be built on the west and east area of IKN and will be carried out in two phases.
Minister Budi said that ART is a train, but instead of conventional rails, it uses virtual rails. The ART is operated using batteries that are substituted using magnets on road markings. One trainset consisting of three carriages can carry more than 300 people, with speeds of up to 70 km/hour.
