US, UK Launch Strikes Against Houthi in Yemen
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The United States (US) and United Kingdom (UK) launched strikes against multiple targets in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, Thursday (1/11), said President Joe Biden in a statement.
US officials said that targets include air defense and coastal radar sites, drone and missile storage and launching locations. The strike was carried out using warship- and submarine-launched Tomahawk missiles and fighter jets.
The strikes, said to be “direct response to unprecedented Houthi attacks against international maritime vessels in the Red Sea” were also backed by Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands. It was meant to convey a clear message that US and its allies “will not tolerate” the attacks in this commercial routes.
It was also stated the strikes were carried out following “extensive diplomatic campaign”.
