COVID-19 Virus JN.1 Variant Transmissions Detected in Jakarta and Batam
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Ministry of Health has confirmed the discovery of four cases of COVID-19 variant JN.1 in Indonesia. In a written statement on Tuesday (12/19), the Ministry's Director General of Disease Prevention and Control, Dr. Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, noted that the four cases were identified in South Jakarta and East Jakarta on Sunday (11/17), Batam on Wednesday (12/13) and North Jakarta on Thursday (11/23). All patients have been treated by the local health office.
Director of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control of the Health Ministry, Dr. Imran Pambudi, said that to date, the severity and number of people requiring treatment are still low. However, the public is urged to complete the COVID-19 vaccination to prevent the risk of transmission ahead of the year-end holidays.
