SEAToday.com, Jakarta - PT PLN (Persero) is collaborating with ACWA Power, a Saudi Arabian energy company, to develop Floating Solar Power Plants (PLTS) on Lake Singkarak, West Sumatra and in the Saguling Reservoir, West Java. This collaboration aims to increase the capacity of floating PLTS in Indonesia. The cooperation between the two parties was marked by the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) on the sidelines of the COP28 event in Dubai.

The Singkarak Floating PLTS will stand on 0.26 percent of the total area of Lake Singkarak, West Sumatra. The plan is that the Singkarak Floating PLTS will have a capacity of 77 megawatt peak (MWp) to meet electricity needs in the Sumatra region. Meanwhile, the Saguling Floating PLTS will utilize 1.69 percent of the total surface area of the Saguling reservoir, in West Java. The Saguling Floating PLTS will have a capacity of up to 92 MWp to provide electricity in the Java, Madura, and Bali regions.
