Muhammadiyah Elementary School in Sidoarjo Introduces Nap Time during School Hours
SEAToday.com, Sidoarjo - Muhammadiyah 4 Zamzam Elementary School in Sidoarjo, East Java, has made naptime a compulsory subject for students. This unique subject was only applied to first grade students in the 2023–2024 school year. Students are required to take a nap for one hour, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, under the supervision of a teacher.
Not without reason, the school feels that napping is one of the needs of students so that they do not feel tired and can focus more on learning. The teachers considered that even though the students did not sleep in bed, this lesson succeeded in making the students happy and could make them re-energized when studying until the afternoon.
In addition to napping, this school also eliminates assignments or homework to be done at home. All assignments must be completed at school so that when they get home, students are not burdened with school matters.
