Ministry of Trade Seizes Rp15 Billion Worth of Illegal Goods

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), through the Directorate of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (PKTN), in collaboration with other agencies, has seized Rp15 billion worth of allegedly illegal or non-compliant products.

“The estimated economic value of the goods is Rp15 billion,” said Trade Minister Budi Santoso as quoted on Antara during a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday.

The products, confiscated between January and March 2025, were found to violate several regulations such as lack of SNI certification, no Indonesian-language labels, absence of manuals or warranty cards, and missing K3L registration numbers (health, safety, security, and environment).

The imported products came from 10 companies across five categories: electronics, children’s toys, textiles, and metal products. Ten local companies also violated rules in two categories: electronics and footwear.

Confiscated goods include 297,781 units of electronics, 297,522 units of children’s toys, 1,277 units of footwear, 100 units of bedsheets, 905 units of vehicle rims. Most of the goods reportedly originated from China.

“We are urging businesses to immediately withdraw these products from circulation and fulfill licensing requirements such as K3L, SNI labels, and warranty documentation,” Budi added as quoted on Antara.

These products were found in violation of Consumer Protection Law No. 8/1999 and several trade regulations. Possible sanctions include written warnings, temporary business suspension, license revocation, and product destruction.
