Festival Songkran Jadi Warisan Budaya Tak Benda UNESCO
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Festival Songkran, atau perayaan Tahun Baru Thailand telah disetujui untuk masuk dalam daftar Warisan Budaya Tak Benda Organisasi Pendidikan, Ilmu Pengetahuan, dan Kebudayaan Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (UNESCO) pada Rabu (6/12).
Perayaan ini menjadi warisan budaya tak benda UNESCO keempat bagi Thailand, didahului oleh tarian topeng Khon, pijat Thailand, dan pertunjukan tari Nora.
Kementerian Kebudayaan mengadakan berbagai kegiatan untuk merayakannya di halaman Balai Kota Bangkok pada Kamis (7/12) yang dibuka oleh Perdana Menteri Srettha Thavisin.
Songkran merupakan festival untuk merayakan Tahun Baru Thailand yang diselenggarakan secara nasional pada tanggal 13-15 April setiap tahunnya. Kegiatannya meliputi pemberian sedekah kepada para biksu, menyiramkan air ke telapak tangan orang yang dihormati, pertunjukan budaya, dan kegiatan memercikkan air yang meriah.
