SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia has officially launched its participation at the Osaka World Expo 2025, unveiling the Indonesia Pavilion as a powerful symbol of the nation’s cultural richness and commitment to sustainable development.

Inspired by the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, the pavilion emphasizes harmony between humanity, nature, and the divine. Its design and content reflect Indonesia’s vision of a sustainable future rooted in local wisdom.

The pavilion was inaugurated on April 9 by National Development Planning Minister Rahmad Bambang and serves as a showcase of Indonesia’s achievements in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It also highlights the nation’s efforts to promote sustainable tourism, positioning Indonesia as an attractive destination for global investment in its priority tourism areas, regenerative destinations, and special economic zones.

During Media Day, Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana marked Indonesia's official participation, calling it a powerful first step in the nation’s journey at the global event.

“Alongside marine and gastronomy wellness, tourism stands as one of our key priority sectors under the upscale tourism program. It is a bold initiative to position Indonesia as a world-class destination for specialty travel. At this year’s Osaka World Expo, we proudly present a preview of Indonesia’s wellness paradise through our thriving Harmony Pavilion. The Ministry of Tourism is proud to be joined by 15 leading industry players—from luxury resorts and holistic spas to destination experts—where we will engage in rich and high-impact business matching and immersive promotions.”

Designed in the shape of a traditional Pini boat, the pavilion serves as Indonesia’s face on the world stage.

Visitors are invited to explore three immersive zones—Nature, Culture, and Future—each offering a unique experience that mirrors Indonesia’s national vision of unity, sovereignty, progress, and sustainability.

One visitor, Kazuteru Makiyama, praised the exhibit: “This pavilion is fantastic. For people like us in Japan, who often see Indonesia just as a tourist destination, this gave us a deeper understanding of its culture—its islands, languages, and people. I could really feel that from this experience.”

The Expo will run for six months, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, offering a global platform for nations to share ideas, innovation, and inspiration for the future.
