SEAToday.com, Washington - US President Donald Trump's statement regarding his desire to take over Gaza continues to stir controversy. However, he persisted, even in the latest statement, Trump said he was committed to buying the Gaza Strip and allowing other countries to develop parts of the territory.

“I am committed to buying and owning Gaza,” Trump told reporters aboard presidential Air Force One en route to New Orleans, Louisiana.

He reiterated that the Palestinian enclave is a site of destruction and uninhabitable.

“That territory is very unsafe. However, we will make it a very good location for future development by others. We will let other countries develop parts of it. It will be beautiful,” Trump said.

“People from all over the world can come to live there, but we will take care of the Palestinians. We will make sure their lives are beautiful, harmonious and peaceful, and that they are not killed. This region has become the most dangerous location in the world to live in,” he said, adding.

In response to a question on whether he would accept Palestinian refugees into the US, Trump replied: “I'll find out.”

However, he said that the distance Palestinians travel to the US is very long.

“I think they would be very happy to live in a safe area, where they can be safe and live a good life,” Trump said.

According to him, Palestinians do not want to return to the remaining areas in Gaza. He also said he hoped Egypt, Jordan and other countries would help them.

He suggested that Saudi Arabia and other countries could spend money to make that happen.

“They have a lot of money. They will spend some money to make people feel comfortable and safe,” he said again.

Trump also said the US does not want the Palestinian resistance group Hamas in Gaza.

“And think of it (Gaza) as a great property development site, and the United States will own it and will develop it slowly, very slowly - we're not in a hurry,” he said.

He added that the US would bring stability to the Middle East, parts of which are war-torn.

On Feb. 4, Trump said that his government would take over Gaza and relocate Palestinians elsewhere so that the region could be rebuilt and become the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

The plan drew widespread condemnation from Palestinians, Arab states and other countries, including China, Canada, France, Germany and the UK.

Since October 2023, Israeli military aggression has left the Gaza Strip devastated and killed more than 48,000 residents, according to local health authorities.
