SEAToday.com, Jakarta - 12 volunteers of the humanitarian organization MER-C Indonesia are being held back from leaving Gaza due to the Rafah border being closed by Israeli military forces.

MER-C Indonesia in a press conference by the Emergency Medical Team Head Arief Rachman, Wednesday (5/15), mentioned that of the 12 people, nine are medical personnel while three are non-medical personnel.

Rachman explained the team was supposed to have returned to Cairo because their duties in Southern Gaza had been completed. However, the closure of the Rafah border has hindered their return process. He mentioned that there is already a MER-C Indonesia team on standby in Cairo and will enter Rafah once the situation improves.
