BMKG Predicts Rain Across Major Indonesian Cities on Tuesday
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Rain is expected to fall over several major cities in Indonesia on Tuesday, (12/24/2024), according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). Cities like Tanjung Selor, Pekanbaru, and Makassar are among those forecasted to experience rainfall.
“Pay attention to potential thunderstorms, especially in Lampung,” said BMKG forecaster Raeni Chindi. On Sumatra Island, light rain is expected in Banda Aceh, Padang, and Tanjung Pinang, while medium rain will likely occur in Medan and Bengkulu. Hazy conditions are predicted for Jambi and Pekanbaru.
In Java, light rain is forecasted for Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, and Serang, with Yogyakarta cautioned for possible thunderstorms. Similarly, light rain is expected in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, covering Denpasar, Mataram, and Kupang.
Kalimantan sees a mix of weather with light rain in Pontianak and Palangka Raya, medium rain in Tanjung Selor, and potential thunderstorms in Samarinda and Banjarmasin. Sulawesi is predicted to have medium rain in Makassar, heavy rain in Mamuju, and potential thunderstorms in Manado and Palu.
Eastern Indonesia will mostly experience cloudy skies in Manokwari, light rain in Sorong and Ambon, medium rain in Jayawijaya and Ternate, while Jayapura and Merauke should prepare for thunderstorms.
