79th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony to be Held in Nusantara, Jakarta

SEAToday.com, Jakarta-The Indonesian government will hold the 79th Independence Day Ceremony in two locations: Nusantara Capital City (IKN) and Jakarta. This was announced by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy after a meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday (6/10).
“Some of it will be in IKN and some in Jakarta. There will be entertainment here and entertainment there, a hybrid,” he stated.
Minister Muhadjir explained the president and vice president-elect, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, will also attend the ceremony.
President Jokowi will lead the ceremony in IKN, accompanied by Prabowo. Meanwhile, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin will lead the ceremony in Jakarta with Gibran.
A number of state guests are also planned to be invited to attend the ceremony in IKN, including a number of ambassadors of partner countries. Accommodation in IKN is confirmed to be ready, including the airport which is reportedly 90 percent complete, and is projected to be functional by the end of July.
