Kepala PBB akan Bertemu Donatur Utama UNRWA di Tengah Krisis Pendanaan
SEAToday.com, New York - Sekretaris Jenderal Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB), Antonio Guterres bertemu dengan para donatur utama badan PBB Urusan Pengungsi Palestina (UNRWA) di markas besar PBB di New York, pada Selasa (30/1).
Beberapa negara termasuk Amerika Serikat, Inggris, Austria, Finlandia, dan Jepang telah menghentikan pendanaan mereka akibat tuduhan Israel mengenai keterlibatan staf badan PBB tersebut dalam serangan 7 Oktober lalu.
Tuduhan tersebut muncul setelah Mahkamah Internasional (ICJ) mengeluarkan keputusan sementara atas tuntutan Afrika Selatan pada Jumat (26/1) yang meminta Israel berhenti menghalangi pengiriman bantuan ke Gaza dan memperbaiki situasi kemanusiaan.
Sebelumnya, UNRWA telah mempekerjakan lebih dari 13.000 orang di Gaza dan 12 diantaranya dituduh oleh Israel ikut terlibat dalam penyerangan. UNRWA juga telah memecat beberapa karyawannya dan melakukan investigasi atas tuduhan tersebut.
