Denmark Mengesahkan UU Larangan Membakar Al-Quran dan Kitab Suci Lainnya

SEAToday.com, Denmark - Parlemen Denmark mengesahkan undang-undang yang membuat penistaan terhadap kitab suci apapun di negara tersebut menjadi ilegal, Kamis (7/12) dengan hasil pemungutan suara 94-77.

Keputusan ini diambil setelah serangkaian pembakaran Al-Quran oleh segelintir aktivis anti-Islam menimbulkan protes dan demonstrasi di beberapa negara Muslim. Dengan undang-undang baru ini, pelanggar dapat dikenai denda atau hukuman penjara hingga dua tahun.

Negara-negara Skandinavia dipandang sebagai tempat yang memfasilitasi penghinaan agama dan budaya. Denmark dan negara tetangganya, Swedia, baru-baru ini mengalami sejumlah insiden dalam aksi demonstrasi jalanan, yang menyebabkan timbulnya kekhawatiran keamanan di wilayah tersebut.

"Kita harus melindungi keamanan Denmark dan warga Denmark," kata Menteri Kehakiman Denmark Peter Hummelgaard. "Itulah mengapa penting bagi kita untuk mendapatkan perlindungan yang lebih baik terhadap penistaan sistematis yang telah kita lihat sejak lama."
