Arab Saudi Tunjuk Dubes untuk Suriah Setelah Lebih dari Satu Dekade
SEAToday.com, Riyadh-Arab Saudi menunjuk duta besar baru untuk Suriah, Faisal Al Mujifel, Minggu (26/5). Faisal menjadi duta besar pertama Arab Saudi untuk Damaskus sejak penutupan kedutaan Saudi pada tahun 2012 selama perang saudara Suriah.
Arab Saudi membuka kembali kedutaan besarnya di Suriah awal tahun ini setelah kedua negara memutuskan hubungan diplomatik lebih dari satu dekade yang lalu.
Suriah telah membuka kembali kedutaan besarnya di Riyadh pada tahun lalu dan juga menunjuk duta besar baru pada bulan Desember.
Pembentukan kembali hubungan Riyadh dan Damaskus merupakan perkembangan paling signifikan sejauh ini dalam gerakan negara-negara Arab untuk menormalkan hubungan dengan Presiden Suriah Bashar al-Assad, yang dijauhi oleh sejumlah negara Barat dan Arab setelah perang saudara di Suriah pada tahun 2011.
