SEAToday.com, Kuala Lumpur-The Malaysian anti-graft agency or the M-A-C-C has extended Mirzan Mahathir's, ex-Malaysian prime minister son's deadline to declare his asset amid graft investigation. Previously on January 18, the M-A-C-C told Mirzan Mahathir to declare all of his assets within 30 days.

While there is no specific date on the new deadline, the authority reported an additional 30 days for Mirzan to prepare all his documents. The current graft investigation was confirmed by the M-A-C-C to be related to the 2022 Pandora and Panama paper investigation.

Moreover, Mirzan Mahathir's name also appeared in the offshore business records list published by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

The M-A-C-C has taken similar procedures against several Malaysian former leaders, including Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim perceived rivals on the anti-graft platform since 2022.

In response, the Malaysian ex-prime minister Mahathir has denounced the M-A-C-C order, stating that the investigational was politically motivated. On the other side, Prime Minister Anwar has denied interfering in the M-A-C-C investigation. (ALWI/ALVIN)
