SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Sweden was shaken by a tragic mass shooting at a school in the central region of the country, which claimed the lives of at least 10 people, including the perpetrator. The incident was confirmed by local police on Tuesday (2/4).

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday at 12:33 local time (18:33 WIB) at Campus Risbergska in Örebro, approximately 200 kilometers from the capital, Stockholm.

All victims were found inside the school building, which police described as a large structure with many rooms that needed to be searched.

Authorities believe there is no further threat as the perpetrator is presumed dead. Police also confirmed that the attacker acted alone, though the motive behind the attack is still under investigation.

The Swedish daily Aftonbladet reported that the suspect had no prior criminal record, making it difficult for police to confirm his identity.

Örebro Police Chief Roberto Eid Forest emphasized that although the situation is considered safe, thorough searches and security measures are still being conducted at the scene.

Meanwhile, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson is scheduled to make a statement to the media on Tuesday evening local time. Earlier, he described the incident as a "horrific act of violence" and expressed his sorrow over the tragic event.

In a post on the platform X, Kristersson conveyed his condolences to the victims, emphasizing that what should have been an ordinary school day turned into a nightmare of terror.
