SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has successfully evacuated 91 Indonesian citizens from Syria on December 20 and 21, 2024. The evacuation was divided into three flights.
The majority of the Indonesian citizens are migrant workers and students from Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), as quoted from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website.
Previously, the Indonesian citizens were evacuated by land from Damascus City to Beirut City with the escort of the Indonesian Embassy Diplomat.
With the return of this latest batch, the total number of Indonesian citizens who have been successfully evacuated after the change of government in Syria is 156 Indonesian citizens divided into four batches.
Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Damascus continue to track and record Indonesian citizens who may still be in Syria and have not reported themselves.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to urge Indonesian citizens, especially those still in Syria, to continue to pay attention to developments in the situation and security, avoid getting involved in unnecessary political activities, and establish communication with the Indonesian Representative in Damascus.
