SEAToday.com, Gaza - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday (2/7) rejected the terms of the ceasefire deal offered by Hamas.

The PM in a press briefing said the terms are “delusional”, adding that their victory is within reach and a “total victory” will ensure Israel’s security. He instead confirmed that the military had been ordered to commence operations in Rafah, where more than one million Palestinians had sought refuge.

Hamas had previously offered a 4.5 months ceasefire in Gaza, during which all hostages would be released in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians imprisoned by Israel, including senior militants. Israel would also withdraw its troops from Gaza and an agreement would be reached on an end to the war.

Despite offering one of Israel's war goals: the return of the hostages, Netanyahu had rejected the deal citing pledge to eliminate Hamas.
