SEAToday.com, Gaza - Sejumlah negara memutuskan untuk menghentikan sementara pendanaan mereka bagi badan PBB untuk Pengungsi (UNRWA) Palestina akibat tuduhan Israel yang menyebutkan beberapa staf UNRWA terlibat dalam serangan 7 Oktober. Negara-negara tersebut antara lain adalah Amerika Serikat, Inggris, Italia, Australia, Kanada, Finlandia, Jerman, Belanda, dan Swiss.
Komisioner Jenderal UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini pada Jumat (1/26) menyebutkan bahwa pihak berwenang Israel memberikan informasi mengenai dugaan keterlibatan beberapa staf UNRWA dalam serangan 7 Oktober lalu. Akibatnya, UNRWA telah memecat para staf tersebut, dan memulai investigasi. Sekretaris Jenderal PBB Antonio Guterres juga meminta penyelidikan cepat akan tuduhan Israel tersebut.
Para pejabat Palestina dan Hamas juga telah meminta para negara tersebut untuk segera membalikkan keputusan tersebut karena dapat membahayakan upaya bantuan kemanusiaan.
Sementara itu, Menteri Luar Negeri Israel Israel Katz menyebutkan akan menggalakkan kebijakan yang melarang keterlibatan dan aktivitas UNRWA di Gaza pada kemudian hari.
