Kebakaran Apartemen di Kuwait, Kemlu Pastikan Tak Ada WNI Jadi Korban

SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Kementerian Luar Negeri RI (Kemlu) memastikan tak ada warga negara Indonesia (WNI) yang menjadi korban jiwa dalam insiden kebakaran di gedung apartemen yang dihuni pekerja asing di Kuwait selatan, Rabu pagi, 12 Juni 2024 waktu setempat.

Gedung apartemen yang terbakar tersebut terletak di Distrik Mangaf, Kegubernuran Ahmadi, selatan dari ibu kota Kuwait City. Mayoritas penghuninya adalah pekerja asing dari India.

"Pihak KBRI Kuwait telah melakukan koordinasi dengan berbagai pihak, termasuk rumah sakit, dan sejauh ini tidak ada WNI yang menjadi korban jiwa," demikian pernyataan tertulis Direktorat Perlindungan WNI dan BHI Kemlu RI yang diterima di Jakarta, Rabu malam, dilansir Antara.

Menurut informasi yang diterima Kemlu RI, pihak Kuwait menyampaikan bahwa sebagian besar korban meninggal karena luka bakar dan gangguan pernapasan akibat asap. Otoritas Kuwait menyebut, kebakaran diindikasikan berasal dari dapur lantai dasar dan merebak hingga ke seluruh gedung.

Untuk memastikan penyebab pasti kebakaran, penyelidikan oleh otoritas setempat masih berlangsung hingga saat ini, demikian menurut Direktorat Kemlu.

Direktorat PWNI dan BHI Kemlu RI juga memastikan bahwa KBRI Kuwait akan terus memantau perkembangan insiden kebakaran tersebut serta berkoordinasi dengan pihak-pihak terkait.
