Paus Fransiskus akan Datangi Masjid Istiqlal pada 5 September
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Pemimpin Gereja Katolik Paus Fransiskus akan mengunjungi Masjid Istiqlal, Jakarta Pusat, dalam kunjungannya ke Indonesia pada 3-6 September 2024 mendatang.
Imam Besar Masjid Istiqlal Nasaruddin Umar menyebutkan Paus Fransiskus direncanakan datang ke Masjid Istiqlal pada 5 September untuk melakukan pertemuan dengan pemuka-pemuka agama lainnya di Indonesia. Pertemuan ini difokuskan pada dialog antar komunitas agama untuk mempererat hubungan antar-agama di Indonesia dan dunia.
Menurut Nasarudin, kunjungan ini nantinya menjadi kunjungan pertama Paus Fransiskus ke tempat ibadah lain selain gereja. Ia menyebutkan salah satu alasan ketertarikan Paus ke Istiqlal adalah karena adanya Terowongan Silaturahmi yang menghubungkan Masjid Istiqlal dan Gereja Katedral Jakarta.
