“No Other Land”, Film about Palestinians Struggle Wins Berlinale Best Documentary

SEAToday.com, Berlin - “No Other Land”, a documentary film about the struggle of Palestinians against the Israeli violence in the occupied West Bank won the Best Documentary Film Award at the 2024 Berlin Film Festival.

 

The film was co-directed by Palestinian activist Basel Adra and Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham. Adra, during his acceptance speech on Saturday (2/24) urged Germany to “respect UN calls and stop sending weapons to Israel.” His co-director Abraham also called for the inequality to end. 

 

The film shows young Palestinian lawyer and activist Basel Adra from West Bank, who has been fighting the mass expulsion of his community by Israel's occupation since childhood. He documented how the Israeli government gradually demolished his community.  At some point, he meets an Israeli journalist Yuval, who supports him in his effort, then an unlikely alliance develops.

 

Aside from Best Documentary, “No Other Land” had also earlier won Berlinale’s Panorama Audience Award.
