SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Imam Besar Masjid Istiqlal Nasaruddin Umar mengaku terkejut ketika ia dipanggil untuk datang ke kediaman Presiden Terpilih Prabowo Subianto, Senin (14/10/2024).

Nasaruddin Umar menjadi tokoh agama yang dipanggil oleh Prabowo Subianto ke kediamannya di Jalan Kertanegara, Jakarta Selatan. Ia pun diminta untuk membantu sebagai menteri di kabinet mendatang.

"Saya betul-betul sangat surprise ya. Saya enggak menyangka dan saya kaget, saya enggak pernah membayangkan," ujar Nasaruddin Umar.

Ia mengaku pembicaraan terkait posisi menteri bersama Prabowo juga orang di sekitar lingkungan Partai Gerindra tidak pernah ada sebelum-sebelumnya.

Namun, undangan dari ajudan Prabowo untuk datang ke Kertanegara pun ia dapat pada Senin (14/10) pukul 18.00 WIB.

Dari undangan tersebut pun, ia diminta Prabowo untuk membantunya di kabinet Prabowo mendatang.

"Enggak pernah menyangka, enggak pernah membayangkan. Saya hanya bekerja profesional di bidang saya di Istiqlal dan di perguruan tinggi sebagai dosen," kata dia.

Namun, terkait posisi menteri yang ditawarkan Prabowo, Nasaruddin pun enggan untuk membeberkannya. Ia hanya bisa memastikan bahwa tugasnya tidak akan jauh dari aktivitas di bidang keagamaan.

"Saya pikir tidak jauh dari keseharian saya. Ya, nantilah beliau yang akan menjelaskan," ujarnya.

Nasaruddin Umar menjadi satu di antara sejumlah tokoh yang dipanggil ke kediaman Prabowo. Mereka adalah Prasetyo Hadi, Sugiono, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Fadli Zon, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Yassierli, Satryo Soemantri, Tito Karnavian, hingga Zulkifli Hasan.
