8 Negara yang Bisa Gunakan SIM Indonesia Mulai Juni 2025

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Korlantas Polri mengumumkan kebijakan baru terkait penggunaan Surat Izin Mengemudi (SIM) Indonesia yang bisa digunakan di 8 negara Asia Tenggara.

Mulai 1 Juni 2025, SIM Indonesia bisa digunakan di 8 negara Asia Tenggara, yaitu Filipina, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam, Singapura, dan Malaysia.

Warga Negara Indonesia (WNI) yang akan berkendara di 8 negara tersebut bisa langsung menunjukkan SIM Indonesia.

Kebijakan baru tersebut tertuang dalam pengumuman di akun resmi Instagram @tmcpoldametro, Kamis (20/6/2024).

Namun, Direktur Registrasi dan Identifikasi (Dirregident) Korlantas Polri, Brigjen Pol Yusri Yunus mengatakan, SIM Internasional masih diperlukan saat akan berkendara di negara-negara lain.

"Bukan berarti semua negara ASEAN memberlakukan SIM Indonesia, terus SIM Internasional itu tidak berlaku, enggak," ujar Yusri.

Masyarakat yang akan berkendara di luar negeri tetap perlu mengurus SIM Internasional. SIM Internasional yang diterbitkan oleh Indonesia tersebut berlaku di 92 negara yang menandatangani Konvensi Wina Tahun 1968.

"SIM Internasional ini digunakan di beberapa negara yang sudah ada perjanjian dengan kita. Jepang tidak mengakui SIM Internasional kita," ungkapnya.

Meski begitu, terdapat beberapa negara di kawasan Asia Tenggara yang memilih memberlakukan SIM asli atau domestik daripada SIM Internasional.

"Ada beberapa negara di ASEAN, saya tidak bilang semua. Contohnya, Thailand dan Filipina," ujarnya.

Bahkan, sejumlah negara bagian di Australia juga lebih sering menanyakan keberadaan SIM asli dibandingkan SIM Internasional.

Pemberlakuan SIM Indonesia di negara-negara Asia Tenggara dilatarbelakangi oleh perjanjian Agreement on the Recognition of Domestic Driving License Issued.

Perjanjian pada 7 September 1985 di Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia itu mengungkapkan, setiap warga yang berkendara di luar negeri tetap bisa menggunakan SIM domestik atau SIM Indonesia.
