SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Gunung Rinjani National Park (TNGR) established a toilet unit with the most beautiful view on the Sembalun climb, Mount Rinjani.

This toilet was built at an altitude of ± 2639 meters above sea level, precisely at Pelawangan Sembalun 1 destination Sembalun climbing tourist route to protect the environment of the Mount Rinjani area, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

“Toilet facilities have been built with an environmentally friendly concept that is ready to be used in the 2025 climbing season,” said Head of the NTB TNGR Center Yarman in Mataram, Thursday (3/13).

He said that in every climb, all are always faced with challenges, not only physical, but also moral in maintaining the beauty of nature.

“One of them is how to maintain cleanliness, even in places far from civilization,” he said.

Therefore, the Gunung Rinjani National Park Office in collaboration with Arei Outdoor Gear built a toilet at an altitude of ± 2,639 meters above sea level to improve the comfort of tourists who come to visit.

The construction of this toilet is not just a facility, but a concrete step to reduce adverse impacts on the surrounding environment.

The toilet that was built provides two options, a sitting toilet and a squat toilet, for the convenience of climbers.

The existence of this toilet is to avoid open defecation behavior that can pollute the ecosystem and spoil the aesthetics of Rinjani's natural scenery.

Yarman said that the construction of this toilet is just the beginning, because the plan to build a similar toilet will also be present at Segara Anak Lake at an altitude of 2010 meters above sea level.

This is part of the commitment to ensure that the natural preservation is maintained in high places that are a paradise for climbers.

He hopes that this small step can inspire all parties to always keep nature clean, not only during climbing, but also in everyday life.

“Let's protect nature together so that future generations can also enjoy the same charm of natural beauty,” he said.
