MPR plenary Session Approves Ahmad Muzani as MPR Chairman 2024-2029

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - ThePeople’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Plenary Session held at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, approved Ahmad Muzani from the Gerindra Party faction as the Chairman of the MPR for the 2024-2029 period, replacing Bambang Soesatyo, who served as Chairman for the 2019-2024.
In addition, the session also approved eight other MPR leaders for inauguration. Previously, during the 2019 period, Muzani held the position of Deputy Chairman of the MPR.
“Can the combiner meeting’s decision on the 2024-2029 MPR leadership and the appointment of Ahmad Muzani as MPR Chairman for the 2024-2029 period be approved?” asked Interim MPR Chairman Guntru Sasosno, to which the assembly members responded with approval.
The plenary session was attended by DPR Chairwoman Puan Maharani and the Deupty Speakers of the DPR, along with DPD Chairman Sultan B Najamudin and his deputies, who sat alongside Puan.
Additionally, Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister and Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono was present to witness the inauguration of the MPR leadership.
On Wednesday evening (10/2), the Interim MPR Leadership Meeting agreed that Ahmad Muzani, a member of the MPR from the Gerindra Party faction, would become MPR Chairman for the 2024-2029 period.
The MPR leadership consists of nine members, representing eight political party factions and one representative from the DPD. The inauguration, originally scheduled for Wednesday (10/2), was postponed to Thursday because the DPD representative had not yet been elected.

- NasDem Party Faction: Lestari Moerdijat
- National Awakening Party Faction: Rusdi Kirana
- Prosperous Justice Party Faction: Hidayat Nur Wahid
- National Mandate Party Faction: Eddy Soeparno
- Democratic Party Faction: Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono
- DPD Group: Abcandra Muhammad Akbar Supratman
