SEAToday.com, Tokyo - Badan Meteorologi Jepang (JMA) mencabut peringatan tsunami di sepanjang pesisir Laut Jepang. Sebelumnya, peringatan itu diberikan usai gempa bermagnitudo 7,4 yang mengguncang Jepang bagian tengah pada Senin (1/1).
Melansir NHK, delapan orang telah dikonfirmasi meninggal dunia akibat bencana tersebut. Gempa juga sempat memicu peringatan tsunami terutama di prefektur Ishikawa.
Di kota Wajima, gelombang tsunami terjadi dengan tinggi 120 cm dan di Kanazawa 90 cm. Beberapa prefektur lain juga dilaporkan melihat pemandangan serupa.
Di sisi lain, Perdana Menteri Jepang Fumio Kishida mengatakan pihaknya “berpacu dengan waktu” untuk mencari dan mengevakuasi korban gempa Senin (1/1).
“Pencarian dan penyelamatan mereka yang terdampak gempa berpacu dengan waktu,” kata Kishida seperti dilansir Reuters.
