SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with UN Tourism, plans to launch a guideline focused on green and environmental investment for the tourism sector.

"This forum is related to the tourism sector that prioritizes wellbeing, and the objective is to develop environmental, green, blue, and sustainable economies. As part of this event, Indonesia in collaboration with UN Tourism will also launch the 'Tourism Guidelines Indonesia'," said Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana as quoted on Antara at the UN Tourism 37th CAP-CSA press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She explained the guideline aims to support sustainable tourism development among member countries while maximizing economic benefits and showcasing the richness of nature and culture.

"Let’s work together to make this event successful, and play an active role in strengthening the tourism sector. Besides strengthening natural and cultural wealth in times of global uncertainty, tourism can also become a global economic destination," she added as quoted on Antara.

UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili emphasized the importance of cooperation, stating, as quoted on Antara, “this is what we want to plan together, and that is why meetings and relationships like this are very important.”

He stressed that tourism can create many new jobs due to investment flows, potentially leading to the development of tourism schools. He gave an example: “A tourism school has already been built in Cebu, the Philippines.”

Pololikashvili also drew parallels between Indonesia and the Philippines: “They both have Manila and Jakarta, but they also have Cebu and Bali. They both have many islands... gastronomy, cultural tourism, religious tourism, nature, adventure, products and many other things we want to develop together.”

Philippines CAP UN Tourism Chair Esperanza Christina Garcia Frasco added: “Thank you once again to Indonesia, thank you to UN Tourism and we look forward to many opportunities to work with other countries in tourism investment, tourism education, and the surrounding economy.”
