President Prabowo and Emir of Qatar Witness Strategic RI-Qatar MoU Signing

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strategic dialogue between the governments of Indonesia and Qatar on Sunday at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha.
According to an official statement received in Jakarta, the agreement—titled "Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Dialogue between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the State of Qatar"—was signed by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
The MoU marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations through the establishment of a Strategic Dialogue (SD) mechanism to be held annually at the foreign ministerial level.
In preparation for the SD, Senior Officials’ Meetings (SOM) will be conducted, while ad hoc working groups may also be formed to address specific areas of cooperation.
The Strategic Dialogue aims to facilitate deeper collaboration across various sectors including politics, international and regional issues, defense and security, economy and energy, agriculture and food security, tourism, science and technology, health, sports, youth affairs, protection of Indonesian migrant workers, and joint efforts in multilateral forums.
The agreement underscores the strong commitment of both countries to expanding and deepening mutually beneficial bilateral ties.
Furthermore, it is expected to strengthen the roles of both Indonesia and Qatar in jointly addressing global challenges.
