Achievements of Prabowo Subianto

SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto will be inaugurated as the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 period on October 20, 2024. During his nearly-5-year service as Defense Minister, the Gerindra Party Chairman has accomplished many achievements.

During a presidential debate, Prabowo revealed that the Defense Ministry had progressed during his time.

“I think the achievements of the Defense Ministry are very clear under my leadership. Our defense industry, domestically, received the largest contract in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, close to 11 billion US dollars,” Prabowo said, reported by Antara.

Prabowo added that during his time as Defense Minister, he had succeeded in building 25 hospitals throughout Indonesia. “We built four faculties in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology at the Indonesian Defense University,” Prabowo said.

There are still many achievements made by Prabowo during his time as Defense. Reporting from various sources, here are some of Prabowo’s achievements as Indonesia’s Minister of Defense.

Forming the Reserve Component

Prabowo formed the Reserve Component or KOMCAD in an effort to improve Indonesia’s preparedness and reserve forces. KOMCAD was formed by Prabowo after he became the Minister of Defense.

Defense Industry Advances Rapidly

As Prabowo has revealed, he has succeeded in making the defense industry advance rapidly. This is proven by the strengthening of PT Pindad to produce defense equipment for Indonesia’s defense needs, for example the production of the Maung tactical car that went viral some time ago. Prabowo also bought many new defense equipment for the TNI to carry out its duties.

Quality of Education and Construction of Military Schools

The quality of education and the construction of military schools in Indonesia has also undergone a good change under Prabowo’s leadership as Defense Minister. The Taruna Nusantara School and the Indonesian Defense University are prime examples.

Building Health Facilities and Water Sources

As Defense Minister, Prabowo built 25 military hospitals with complete facilities, such as the General Sudirman Hospital in the Bintaro area, South Jakarta. Prabowo also helped the task force to find 100 new water sources to prevent drought in Indonesia.

Building Food Security

Prabowo was tasked by Jokowi to help with food security in Indonesia. Prabowo then established food barns in Central Kalimantan and continued to ask all related parties to find solutions to prevent food crises in Indonesia and even in the world.

Indeed, there are still many achievements made by Prabowo as a Defense Minister that are not written in this article. Hopefully when he takes office as president, Prabowo can bring better changes for Indonesia.
