Police Deploy 1,634 Personnel for First Jakarta Gubernatorial Debate

SEAToday.com, Jakarta-The first Jakarta gubernatorial debate will be held at the JIExpo Kemayoran in Central Jakarta, Sunday (10/6) at 7 PM western Indonesian time. The police deployed 1,634 of its personnel for the debate.
"We deployed 1,634 personnel to the first Jakarta gubernatorial debate at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo)," said Central Jakarta Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, in Jakarta, Sunday (10/6), as quoted from Antara.
The personnel were from Greater Jakarta Police, Central Jakarta Police, Jakarta Regional Government, and other related parties. They were placed in the debate area, lobby and entry points of JIExpo, and outer entry points as well as parking lots.
Stricter security of 231 personnel was placed in the entry points, 494 personnel were placed for the candidates' supporters, and 208 were placed at the VIP entrance of the candidates.
"We focus on the entry points and lobby, it's for the supporters. The others guard rings 1, 2, and 3," Susatyo said.
Traffic diversion around JIExpo Kemayoran will take place depending on the situation. "If there are many supporters and condition escalates, we will carry traffic diversion," Susatyo explained.
Susatyo encouraged the public to refrain from going near JIExpo Kemayoran during the debate and look for alternatives in order to prevent traffic jam.
Moreover, Susatyo asked the personnel to be friendly and serve the public well. None of them carried weapons.
The debate will last for 150 minutes. The candidate pairs are Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO), Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana (Dharma-Kun), and Pramono Anung-Rano Karno (Pram-Doel).
The Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) will divide the debate into 6 sessions, and it will begin with the pairs explaining their vision and mission.
Then, the second and third sessions will be for the candidate pairs, the fourth and fifth will be for QnA among candidates, and the sixth will be the closing session.
The Jakarta KPU scheduled the second debate to take place on October 27, and the third on November 17.
