Best Traditional Attire Winners at 79th Independence Day Celebration

SEAToday.com, Nusantara-Around 1,300 people showed up to the 79th Independence Day Ceremony at the State Palace in Nusantara, East Kalimantan, wearing various traditional attire, Saturday (8/17).
Out of all the people who came, seven were crowned with the "Best Traditional Attire" title by the Tourism and Creative Economy Minister and Presidential Secretariat.
They are:
- Donna Chandra Ginting
- Muaiffah Yuliana
- Abi Manyuarliandito
- drg. Uswatun
- Lilis Suryani
- Edi Sofyan
- The wife of La Nyalla Mattalitti
The winners were gifted with a white bicycle with the words "Sepeda Presiden Jokowi" or "President Jokowi's bicycle" on it.
President Jokowi directly congratulated the winner.
In this year's Independence Day, President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana Jokowi worn the Kustim traditional attire from Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. Kustim itself is derived from the word "kustin", which means "greatness".
The attire is inspired by the Kutai Kartanegara Ing Martadipura kingdom, which was one of the oldest kingdoms in Indonesia as well as the origin of Nusantara.
Kustim can only be worn by those of high caste in Kutai Kartanegara during important events and the Erau ceremony, the biggest and most extravagant ceremony in Kutai Kartanegara Ing Martadipura.
This is President Jokowi's last independence day ceremony as a President after serving for 10 years.
