Lombok Airport Resumes Activities After Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki Erupted
SEAToday.com, Mataram-Lombok Airport in West Nusa Tenggara resumes activities after dozens of flights there were canceled as a result of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki eruption on Wednesday (11/13).
“Currently, operations at Lombok Airport are back to normal,” said Lombok Airport Public Relations Officer Arif Haryanto in Central Lombok, Thursday (11/14).
“Hopefully flights at Lombok Airport will remain smooth and safe. However, this condition can change depending on the wind direction or the impact of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki,” he said.
Arif encouraged the passengers to contact their airline’s call center to confirm their flights.
Previously, six international flights, both departures and arrivals, were canceled due to the volcanic ash eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Wednesday (11/13).
Until Wednesday, November 13, 2024, 2:30 PM, there were 39 flights canceled by the airline, consisting of 33 domestic flights and 6 canceled international flights.
“There are 18 domestic flights and 15 arrivals, while for international flights, there are 3 departures and 3 arrivals,” said Lombok Airport General Manager Barata Singgih Riwahono.
Canceled domestic flights include those bound for and departing from Jakarta, Surabaya, Bali, Yogyakarta, Bima, and Sumbawa Besar. Meanwhile, canceled international flights are bound for and departing from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
There are 3,980 passengers who have experienced flight cancellations, consisting of 3,090 domestic flight passengers and 890 international flight passengers.
