Health Ministry Imposes Strict Penalties to 39 Bullying Perpetrators
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Health Ministry is taking action against a rise in bullying cases within residency programs. M. Syahril, a spokesperson for the Ministry, reported that from July 2023 to August 9, 2024, they received 356 bullying complaints. These included 211 reports from residents in vertical hospitals (hospitals directly managed by the Health Ministry) and 145 from outside.
These reports documented non-physical bullying, verbal intimidation, unreasonable work hours, and tasks unrelated to medical training.
Following investigations into 156 cases, the Ministry imposed severe sanctions on 39 residents and consultants. The remaining 145 reports from outside vertical hospitals were referred back to the respective institutions for further action.
