Menlu Sugiono Bertemu Menlu Thailand di Kazan Rusia, Sepakat Perkuat Hubungan Bilateral dan Regional

SEAToday.com, Kazan - Menteri Luar Negeri (Menlu) Sugiono melakukan pertemuan bilateral dengan Menteri Luar Negeri Thailand Maris Sangiampongsa. Pertemuan ini berlangsung di sela-sela Konferensi Tingkat Tinggi BRICS Plus di Kazan, Rusia pada 23--24 Oktober 2024.
Pertemuan tersebut membahas utamanya isu-isu bilateral dan kawasan. Mengawali pertemuan, Menlu Sugiono menekankan pentingnya nilai strategis hubungan bilateral antar kedua negara dan mendorong peningkatan kerja sama bilateral kedua negara melalui berbagai mekanisme yang telah berjalan.
Sebagai negara dengan potensi dan GDP yang besar di kawasan Asia Tenggara, kedua Menlu sepakat akan pentingnya meningkatkan kerja sama regional dan global, termasuk melalui ASEAN, PBB, BRICS, dan forum-forum lain.
Mengenai ASEAN, keduanya bertukar pandangan mengenai masalah Myanmar dan sepakat perlunya penyelesaian segera isu ini.
Menlu Sugiono menyampaikan perlunya terus mendorong upaya-upaya kolaboratif dan inklusif, serta pendekatan khusus dengan melibatkan semua pihak di Myanmar. Menlu RI juga menekankan pentingnya tetap menjaga solidaritas dan sentralitas ASEAN di tengah geopolitik yang dinamis.
Menlu Thailand mengungkapkan harapannya agar Indonesia sebagai bagian dari Troika Plus dapat terus memainkan perannya.
Kedua Menlu juga bertukar pandangan mengenai BRICS sebagai forum yang dipandang strategis, khususnya bagi negara-negara emerging economies, untuk turut berkontribusi dalam mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi dunia.
Tahun depan, Indonesia dan Thailand akan merayakan 75 tahun hubungan diplomatik. Pada pelantikan Presiden RI Prabowo Subianto dan Wakil Presiden RI pada Minggu, 20 Oktober 2024, Thailand diwakili oleh Deputi Perdana Menteri.
