Pameran Jakarta dari Bawah Tanah Pamerkan Temuan Arkeologi Berusia 400 Tahun dari Proyek MRT

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Proyek pembangunan MRT Jakarta fase dua yang membentang dari kawasan Thamrin hingga Kota mengungkap sejarah baru kota Jakarta yang telah terkubur selama 400 tahun.
Ikatan Ahli Arkeologi Indonesia (IAAI) memajang benda-benda bersejarah ini dalam pameran "Jakarta dari Bawah Tanah" di Bentara Budaya Jakarta hingga 29 September 2024.
"Ekskavasi di jalur MRT menjadi langkah penting untuk penyelamatan situs arkeologi yang berharga. Kami menemukan banyak sekali bukti-bukti peradaban Jakarta di masa lampau,” sebut Ketua IAAI Marsis Sutopo, Selasa (24/9). Ia mengungkapkan bahwa benda-benda bersejarah yang ditemukan diantaranya berupa pipa terakota, pecahan keramik, hingga saluran air masa VOC. Temuan-temuan ini masih akan melalui proses riset yang lebih mendalam bersama BRIN.
Marsis menyebut bahwa MRT melibatkan arkeolog karena jalur Gajah Mada dan Pintu Besar Selatan merupakan bagian pusat Kota Batavia di masa lalu. “Di abad ke-19 terdapat sistem trem dan stasiun-stasiunnya di jalur tersebut beserta jejak-jejaknya terkuak dalam penggalian arkeologis," ujarnya.
