SEAToday.com, Nusantara - Indonesia akan memiliki basilika pertama yang akan dibangun di Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN). Rumah ibadah ini akan dinamakan Basilika Nusantara Santo Fransiskus Xaverius.
Sekretaris Eksekutif Komisi Liturgi Konferensi Waligereja Indonesia (KWI) Riston Situmorang OSC, Minggu (15/9) menyebutkan bahwa saat ini pembangunan basilika tengah menunggu perizinan di Takhta Suci Vatikan. Proses lelang pembangunan basilika ini juga tengah berlangsung.
Direktur Jenderal Bimbingan Masyarakat Katolik Kementerian Agama Suparman sebelumnya, Selasa (30/7) menyebut bahwa desain basilika ini telah ditetapkan dengan rencana luas bangunan hampir 12.000 meter persegi. Pembangunan akan dilaksanakan paling lambat sekitar Oktober 2024 dan ditargetkan selesai pada Maret 2025.
Suparman berharap, basilika ini dapat menjadi landmark penting yang menjadi simbol kerukunan berbagai umat beragama di Indonesia.
